Chamber of Commerce seeks funding for Interstate 73

COLUMBIA, SC (WMBF) - The Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday, Coastal Carolina University and Coastal Carolinas Association of REALTORS® hosted the 2013 Grand Strand Legislative Reception for S.C. General Assembly members Wednesday night in Columbia.

The event was aimed to increase awareness and understanding of the greater Myrtle Beach area's numerous contributions to the state and its economy. The hot topic of the night was Interstate 73. The MBACC is pushing to secure funding to build the interstate.

Road closures Monday through Wednesday

Road closures Monday through Wednesday

Crow Lane, from Farrow Parkway to Putnam Drive, will be closed to traffic next Monday through Wednesday, December 10-12. 

Detours will be posted.  

The closure is needed to install a new sewer service line for residential construction underway along Farrow Parkway. 

If all goes well, the road may reopen ahead of schedule.

TSA to recognize 10 years of service at Myrtle Beach International Airport

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The Transportation Security Administration is recognizing 10 years of operations at Myrtle Beach International Airport.

TSA was created in the wake of 9/11 to strengthen the security of the nation’s transportation systems while ensuring the freedom of movement for people and commerce. Within a year, TSA assumed responsibility for security at the nation’s airports and deployed a federal workforce to screen commercial airline passengers and baggage.

Hwy 22 traffic stalls as fatal crash cleared

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - The South Carolina Highway Patrol is on the scene of an accident on Highway 22 near Highway 501 that is expected to cause serious traffic delays.

The website for the South Carolina Highway Patrol says the accident, listed as a fatality, occurred around 1:41 p.m. on SC 22 eastbound at mile marker two approaching the exit for Highway 501.

The SCHP advises motorists to expect delays in the area Wednesday afternoon as crews work to investigate the circumstances of this collision.
