21 student volunteers to special Olympics State Games

Myrtle Beach. SC – Representatives of Golf Academy of America announced that a group of students from the world’s largest and longest-running golf career college’s Myrtle Beach campus will be assisting with the Special Olympics South Carolina State Games in Greenville, S.C. over this coming weekend, Oct. 19-20.
 
“Golf Academy of America has been involved with Special Olympics for more than 15 years,” said PGA professional and Golf Academy of America instructor Scott DeVaux, who spearheads the volunteer effort each year.

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - The folks from the local chapter of the Sports Car Club of America are transforming Freestyle Music Park’s parking lot into a mini race course.

The event will take place Saturday and everyone with a  valid driver’s license is invited to attend. Proceeds go toward the North Myrtle Beach Humane Society

This is open for everyone from first time drivers to professionals.

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) Early this year the city released a request for interested parties to make a proposal for how they would design and operate another zip line in North Myrtle Beach.

The proposed privately funded zip line to be incorporated within the 150 plus acre Sports Complex in North Myrtle Beach, is under negations with Adrenaline Adventures. 
 
Adrenaline Adventures operates the Myrtle Beach Zip Line Adventures located on the site of the former Myrtle Beach Pavilion.

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - The 2nd Annual New Beginnings Golf Cart Scavenger Hunt will be held on Saturday, September 22nd from 1:00-3:00 PM to benefit New Beginnings Monthly Food Distribution. The organization is now in its second year serving all of Horry and Georgetown Counties. Participants are needed to fill the event.

MYRTLE BEACH, SC – The 11th annual John Heiert/Jean Wheeler Memorial Golf Tournament, benefiting Mercy Care, was held on Saturday, June 9, 2012 at River Oaks Golf Club in Myrtle Beach.

The annual golf tournament, which began in 2001, has raised nearly $132,000.00 since its inception for a very special program of the Grand Strand’s non-profit, hometown hospice.  This year, over $10,000.00 was raised.
