Lincoln traveling exhibit to open at CCU

  “Lincoln: The Constitution and the Civil War,” a national traveling exhibition that focuses on Abraham Lincoln’s struggle to meet the constitutional challenges of the Civil War, opens at Kimbel Library at Coastal Carolina University on Oct. 12 and runs through Nov. 28. The exhibit is free and open to the community, and several lectures and events are planned during its showing.

North Myrtle Beach Girls Senior Softball League Team heads to state tournament

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC - The North Myrtle Beach Senior Softball League, girls ages 13-16, won the Little League District 5 championship by defeating Myrtle Beach on June 25, 2012.  The team will travel to the Little League state tournament to be held in Easley, South Carolina  July 13-14, 2012. The state champion team will travel to represent the State of South Carolina in the Southeastern tournament to be held in Ft. Myers, FL July 27-Aug. 1.

MBPD are accepting applications for Citizen’s Police Academy this fall

MYRTLE BEACH, SC -  The City of Myrtle Beach Police Department is now accepting applications for the 24th Session of the Citizen’s Police Academy (CPA).

The CPA is for those persons 21 years of age or older who are interested in law enforcement. Applicants must reside in Horry County and undergo a criminal background check.

Topics such as Crime Scene Investigation, Emergency Vehicle Operations and simulated firearms training will be covered during the course.
