2 killed in motorcycle accident on Kings Hwy

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Two people were killed in an accident involving a motorcycle and a car Friday evening, an official with Myrtle Beach Police Department confirmed.

WMBF News was on the scene of the accident near 29th Avenue and Kings Highway, which happened at about 6:30 p.m. Kings Highway was closed Friday night between 31st Ave. and 29th Ave.

The two people killed were on one bike traveling Northbound on Kings Hwy., Lt. Bertang confirmed at the scene. The bike crossed over the street and hit a car traveling south, he said.

MYR lifts overnight parking ban

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Myrtle Beach International Airport will lift the ban on overnight parking at its short-term parking lot, going into effect on June 1. The lot was previously closed and overnight parking was prohibited. 

To encourage passengers to use the parking lot, the maximum daily rate will be reduced from $21 to $15. The first 20 minutes of short-term parking will remain free, and each 20 minutes after will be charged $1.

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A cold front is pushing through the area this morning and we're starting to clear out, says WMBF News Meteorologist Jessica Ryan.

A stray shower is possible through the afternoon, but most of us stay dry. The winds will also pick up today out of the northwest at about 10-20mph with higher gusts. Highs this afternoon will be in the upper 70s inland, low 80s at the coast.

Water balloon dropped from 8th floor balcony shatters windshield

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – A woman's windshield was apparently shattered by a water balloon dropped from the 8th floor balcony of a Myrtle Beach hotel.

Myrtle Beach Police responded to a property damage call at a hotel at the 700 block of South Ocean Boulevard at about 9 p.m. Thursday, according to a report. The victim told police she was in the hotel's front parking lot when an object was dropped on her car, shattering the windshield. The object was identified as a large red water balloon.

Fox exposes Horry Co. man to rabies

Post-exposure treatments are being administered to an Horry County man after he was bitten by a fox that tested positive for rabies, the SC Department of Health and Environmental Control reported.

Police seek info on fatal hit-and-run in Myrtle Beach

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Myrtle Beach Police are searching for the driver who hit and killed a motorcyclist from Lumberton.

The Horry County Coroner's Office tells WMBF News the victim is 46-year-old Andre Price of Lumberton, North Carolina. Price died at the hospital at 9:18 p.m.

The driver of a white van failed to yield to Price Wednesday night, then drove off after the collision, police officials confirmed.

Tourist season launches with new jetpack attraction

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – The Beach Advisory Committee is gearing up for the tourist crowds anticipated to hit the Grand Strand soon, with a meeting on Wednesday.

The Grand Strand is expected to fill up once Memorial Day weekend arrives. The BAC is meeting to make sure lifeguards, Beach Patrol and Culture and Leisure services are all ready to hit the ground running.
